Nay; I swear by the moon, 32 And the night when it withdraweth 33 by the brightening dawn, 34 hell is certainly the greatest calamity. 35 As a warning to humanity - 36 To any of you that chooses to go forward (by working righteous deeds), or to remain behind (by commiting sins), 37 Every soul is held in pledge against its own deeds, 38 Except the Companions of the Right Hand. 39 Sitting in the gardens, asking 40 About the criminals, 41 "What has caused you to enter Hell?" 42 They will answer: "We did not fulfil our devotional obligations, 43 Nor did we feed the wretched. 44 And plunged into useless things with those who were obstinate, 45 And we used to call the day of judgment a lie; 46 Till death overtook us. 47 So no intercession will avail them. 48 Why now turn they away from the Admonishment, 49 As if they were asses taking fright 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 Rather, every person among them desires that he would be given scriptures spread about. 52 By no means. In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Never so, as this is a reminder. 54 Then whoever wills will remember it. 55 they will only take heed if God so wills: He is the Lord who is worthy to be feared: the Lord of forgiveness. 56
