The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read with the name of your Lord Who created, 1 Created man from an embryo; 2 Recite! Your Lord is the most Honorable One, 3 Who taught (to write) with the pen 4 taught the human what he did not know. 5 Yes indeed, man is surely rebellious. 6 for he thinks himself self-sufficient. 7 Indeed towards your Lord only is the return. 8 Have you seen one who prevents 9 a servant when he prays -- 10 Hast thou seen if he relieth on the guidance (of Allah) 11 Or enjoins Righteousness? 12 Do you see how he has denied the truth and turned away from it? 13 Does he not know that God observes all things? 14 Nay, if he desist not, We shall most surely drag him down upon his forehead 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 So, let him call upon his way! 17 We will call the guards of hell. 18 Nay! obey him not, and make obeisance and draw nigh (to Allah). ۩ 19
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
