And recite unto them the story of Ibrahim. 69 When he said to his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They replied, "We worship idols and shall continue to worship them". 71 He asked them, "Can the idols hear you when you pray to them 72 "Or do you good or harm?" 73 They said: Nay, we found our fathers doing so. 74 Said [Abraham]: "Have you, then, ever considered what it is that you have been worshipping 75 "Ye and your fathers before you?- 76 Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds, 77 who created me, and Himself guides me, 78 and Himself gives me to eat and drink, 79 who, when I am sick, heals me; 80 who makes me to die, then gives me life, 81 And who, I hope, will condone my faults on the Day of Judgement. 82 My Lord! bestow on me wisdom and join me with the righteous. 83 And grant me a reputation of honor among later generations. 84 Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss 85 and forgive my father for he is among those who strayed, 86 And do not disgrace me on the day when they are raised from the graves, 87 The Day whereon will profit neither substance nor sons. 88 Save him who bringeth unto Allah a whole heart. 89 For, [on that Day,] paradise will be brought within sight of the God-conscious, 90 And hell will appear plainly to the erring. 91 And it will be said unto them: Where is (all) that ye used to worship 92 "'Besides Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?' 93 "Then they will be thrown headlong into the (Fire),- they and those straying in Evil, 94 and the army of satan will all be thrown headlong into hell. 95 They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say, 96 By Allah! we were certainly in manifest error, 97 When We held you (false gods) as equals (in worship) with the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 98 And none has brought us into error except the Mujrimun [Iblis (Satan) and those of human beings who commit crimes, murderers, polytheists, oppressors, etc.]. 99 We have no intercessors now, 100 no loyal friend. 101 O that we might return again, and be among the believers!' 102 Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 103 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Ever Compassionate. 104
