The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Woe unto the scrimpers: 1 Who, when they take the measure (of their dues) from men take it fully, 2 but who, when they measure or weigh for others, give less than their due. 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 For a mighty day, 5 the Day when people will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 No indeed; the Book of the libertines is in Sijjin; 7 What could let you know what the Sijjeen is! 8 A book inscribed. 9 Woe, then, to those that give the lie, 10 those who deny the Day of Judgement. 11 And none deny it except every sinful transgressor. 12 When Our revelations are conveyed to him, he says, "Fables of the ancients!" 13 No! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts. 14 Therefore they will be screened off from their Lord that day, 15 Then indeed, they will [enter and] burn in Hellfire. 16 And it will be said (unto them): This is that which ye used to deny. 17 No indeed! Verily, the deeds of the virtuous shall be in the record of the exalted ones. 18 and what shall teach thee what is Illiyun? 19 It is a Book inscribed, 20 witnessed by all who have [ever] been drawn close unto God. 21 The righteous shall indeed be blissful, 22 [resting on couches, they will look up [to God]: 23 You can trace on their faces the joy of their bliss. 24 as they are given to drink of a wine sealed 25 The last thereof (that wine) will be the smell of musk, and for this let (all) those strive who want to strive (i.e. hasten earnestly to the obedience of Allah). 26 And it is mixed with Tasneem. 27 a fountain at which do drink those brought nigh. 28 Indeed the guilty used to laugh at the believers. 29 And, when they passed them, to wink at each other, 30 and when they returned to their people they returned blithely, 31 And when they saw them, they said: verily these are the strayed ones. 32 But they had not been sent as keepers over them! 33 This day it is those who believe who have the laugh of disbelievers, 34 seated upon their couches, they are looking around. 35 Will not the infidels pay for what they had done? 36
