The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the Night as it conceals (the light); 1 And the day when it shines in brightness, 2 And the creating of the male and the female, 3 Indeed your efforts differ. 4 So for one who gave and practised piety 5 and confirms the reward most fair, 6 Unto him therefore We shall indeed make easy the path to ease. 7 But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need 8 and he belied the finest 9 We will ease him toward difficulty. 10 And what will his wealth avail him when he falls? 11 Indeed, [incumbent] upon Us is guidance. 12 And verily unto Us (belong) the End and the Beginning. 13 Therefor have I warned you of the flaming Fire 14 where none shall burn except the most wicked, 15 Who give the lie to Truth and turn their backs. 16 But the righteous one will avoid it - 17 one who gives his wealth to become purified, 18 And have in his mind no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 but only to seek the good pleasure of his Lord Most High. 20 and such, indeed, shall in time be well-pleased. 21
