Blessed is He who placed in the heavens constellations of stars, and placed a burning lamp in it and the luminous moon. 61 He it is Who caused the night and the day to succeed each other so that everyone who desires may learn a lesson or become grateful. 62 And the bondmen of the Compassionate are those who walk upon the earth meekly and when the ignorants address them, they say peace 63 They are those who spend the night worshipping their Lord, prostrating, and standing, 64 And they who say: O our Lord! turn away from us the punishment of hell, surely the punishment thereof is a lasting 65 verily, how evil an abode and a station!"; 66 who, when they expend, are neither prodigal nor parsimonious, but between that is a just stand; 67 And they who do not call upon another god with Allah and do not slay the soul, which Allah has forbidden except in the requirements of justice, and (who) do not commit fornication and he who does this shall find a requital of sin; 68 Whose punishment will be doubled on the Day of Judgement, and he will live for ever in disgrace, 69 Excepted, however, shall be they who repent and attain to faith and do righteous deeds: for it is they whose [erstwhile] bad deeds God will transform into good ones - seeing that God is indeed much-forgiving, a dispenser of grace, 70 And whoever repents and does good has truly turned to Allah with an (acceptable) conversion;- 71 and those who do not bear false witness, and when they pass by idle talk, pass by with honor 72 and who when they are reminded of the verses of their Lord, they do not fall down deaf and blind. 73 And those who say: "Our Lord! Bestow on us from our wives and our offspring who will be the comfort of our eyes, and make us leaders for the Muttaqun" (pious - see V. 2:2 and the footnote of V. 3:164)." 74 They will be awarded the high place forasmuch as they were steadfast, and they will meet therein with welcome and the ward of peace, 75 Dwelling therein;- how beautiful an abode and place of rest! 76 Say thou: my Lord careth not for you were it not for your prayer; whereas ye have even belied, so presently this denial shall come as the cleaving punishment. 77
