Thamood cried lies to the Envoys 141 Recall when their brother Salih said to them: "Have you no fear?" 142 Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: 143 Have fear of God and obey me. 144 'I ask of you no wage for this; my wage falls only upon the Lord of all Being. 145 Will you be left secure in this here, 146 in the midst of gardens and fountains, 147 farms, and palm-trees in thick groves, 148 Will you still hew your dwellings in the mountains? 149 So fear Allah and obey me. 150 And do not obey the order of the transgressors, 151 Who cause corruption in the land and do not amend." 152 They said, "You are only bewitched and insane. 153 “You are just a human like us; therefore bring some sign if you are truthful.” 154 He said, "This is a she-camel. She will have her share of water as you have your share, each on a certain day. 155 “And do not touch her with evil intentions for the punishment of the Great Day will seize you.” 156 But they ham-strung her: then did they become full of regrets. 157 and torment struck them. In this there is evidence of the Truth, yet many people do not have any faith. 158 Your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 159
