a large group of the earlier people 39 and many from the later generations. 40 BUT AS FOR those who have persevered in evil - what of those who have persevered in evil? 41 They will live amid the scorching, 42 scalding water and under a shadow of black smoke, 43 Which is neither cool nor is for respect. 44 For that they were wont to be indulged, before that, in wealth (and luxury), 45 And were persisting in great sin (joining partners in worship along with Allah, committing murders and other crimes, etc.) 46 And they were wont to say: when we have died and become dust and bones, shall we, then, verily be raised? 47 (We) and our fore-fathers of yore?” 48 Say thou: verily the ancients and those of later generations: 49 Are going to be assembled on the appointed time of a Day Known. 50 Then shall you, O you who err and call it a lie! 51 Shall surely eat of the tree of Az-Zqqum. 52 filling your bellies, with it 53 And upon it, you will drink the hot boiling water. 54 like a thirsty camel". 55 This shall be their entertainment on the Day of Judgement. 56 We created you; therefore why will you not believe? 57 Have ye seen that which ye emit? 58 Do you create a child out of it, or are We its creators? 59 We have decreed death among you, and We are not to be outdone 60 that We will change you and cause you to grow again in a way you do not know. 61 And you have already known the first creation, so will you not remember? 62 Have you seen what you sow? 63 Is it you that cause it to grow, or are We the causers of growth? 64 If We willed, We could make it [dry] debris, and you would remain in wonder, 65 Surely we are burdened with debt: 66 nay, we have been robbed!' 67 Have you ever considered the water which you drink? 68 Is it you who cause it to come down from the clouds - or are We the cause of its coming down? 69 If We had so pleased, We could have made it bitter. So why would you not give thanks? 70 Have you thought about the fire that you kindle. 71 Did you produce the tree that serves as fuel or do We? 72 We, even We, appointed it a memorial and a comfort for the dwellers in the wilderness. 73 Therefore (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) proclaim the Purity of the name of your Lord, the Greatest. 74
