He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 from a blind man who had come up to him. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 and fearfully, 9 you ignore him. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 Exalted, Purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Noble and pious. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Of what did He create him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 then the way eased for him, 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 olives, dates, 29 And thick gardens, 30 And fruits and herbage 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 And his mother and his father, 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Some faces will shine, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
