The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 the wild beasts are herded together, 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 souls are reunited with their bodies, 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 For what crime she was put to death; 9 And when the written pages of deeds (good and bad) of every person shall be laid open; 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 And when the garden is brought nigh, 13 (Then) every person will know what he has brought (of good and evil). 14 I do not need to swear by the orbiting 15 the runners, the sinkers, 16 and sit during the day, or by the darkening night 17 and the morn as it breathes. 18 Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger, 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 One (to be) obeyed, and faithful in trust. 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 Assuredly he beheld him in the horizon manifest. 23 nor does he grudge (conveying this knowledge about) the Unseen; 24 Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
