The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Woe to those who give short measure, 1 Those who when they take the measure from others, take it in full! 2 but, when they measure for them or weigh for them, do skimp. 3 Do they not know that they are bound to be raised from the dead 4 on a great day 5 The day when everyone will stand before the Lord Of The Creation. 6 No! Indeed, the record of the wicked is in sijjeen. 7 And how would you know what the Record of the prison-house is? 8 A record [indelibly] inscribed! 9 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies, 10 who belied the Day of Recompense! 11 And none can deny it but the Transgressor beyond bounds the Sinner! 12 And when Our revelations are rehearsed unto him, he saith: fables of the ancients! 13 No indeed! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts. 14 Nay! most surely they shall on that day be debarred from their Lord. 15 and then, behold, they shall enter the blazing fire 16 They will then be told: "This is what you had denied." 17 Indeed the record of the virtuous is in the highest place, the Illiyin. 18 And what can make you know what is 'illiyyun? 19 A written record, 20 To which bear witness those brought nigh. 21 Verily the pious will be in heaven, 22 On adorned couches, observing. 23 Thou wilt recognise in their faces the beaming brightness of Bliss. 24 They will be served the choicest wine, sealed 25 The seal thereof will be Musk: And for this let those aspire, who have aspirations: 26 With it will be (given) a mixture of Tasnim: 27 A fountain from which only they who are honoured drink. 28 Behold, the sinners were laughing at the believers, 29 When passing by them, they would wink at one another 30 And when they went back to their people turned to make fun of them; 31 And upon seeing the Muslims, they used to say, “Indeed they have gone astray.” 32 But they had not been sent as guardians over them. 33 so today those who believe shall [be able to] laugh at those who denied the truth 34 seated upon their couches, they are looking around. 35 Are not the disbelievers paid (fully) for what they used to do? 36
