1/2 Hizb 33

۞ And assuredly We vouchsafed unto Ibrahim his rectitude aforetime, and him We had ever known. 51 When he said to his father and his people, "What are these statues to which you are devoted?" 52 They said: We found our fathers worshipping them. 53 Abraham said, "Indeed, you and your fathers have been clearly misguided." 54 They said, 'What, hast thou come to us with the truth, or art thou one of those that play?' 55 He said: Nay! your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, Who brought them into existence, and I am of those who bear witness to this: 56 And, by Allah! I will certainly do something against your idols after you go away, turning back. 57 So he broke them to pieces, (all) except the biggest of them, that they might turn to it. 58 They said, “Who has done this to our Gods? He is indeed cruel!” 59 Some of them said: "We heard a youth called Abraham speak (ill) of them." 60 They said: bring him then before the eyes of the people, haply they may bear witness. 61 They said: Is it thou who hast done this to our gods, O Abraham? 62 He answered: "Nay, it was this one, the biggest of them, that did it: but ask them [yourselves] - provided they can speak!" 63 Thereupon they turned to their (inner) selves and said (to themselves): "Surely it is you who are the wrong-doers." 64 Then were they confounded with shame: (they said), "Thou knowest full well that these (idols) do not speak!" 65 [Ibrahim (Abraham)] said: "Do you then worship besides Allah, things that can neither profit you, nor harm you? 66 Fie upon you and upon all that you worship beside Allah. Do you have no sense?" 67 They said, "Burn him and help your deities, if you are resolved to do something." 68 'O Fire' We said, 'be coolness and safety for Abraham' 69 They sought to outwit him, but We made them the worst of losers. 70 And We delivered him as well as Lut (removing them) to the land which We had blessed for all people. 71 We granted him Isaac and Jacob as a gift and helped both of them to become righteous people. 72 And We made them leaders, guiding (men) by Our Command, and We sent them inspiration to do good deeds, to establish regular prayers, and to practise regular charity; and they constantly served Us (and Us only). 73 We bestowed upon Lot sound judgement and knowledge, and We delivered him from the city that was immersed in foul deeds. They were indeed a wicked people, exceedingly disobedient. 74 And We admitted him into Our mercy. Verily he was of the righteous. 75

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
