Messengers! Partake of the things that are clean, and act righteously. I know well all that you do. 51 Surely this community of yours is one community, and I am your Lord; so fear Me.' 52 But the people divided their religion among them into sects - each faction, in what it has, rejoicing. 53 So leave thou them in their perplexity for a time. 54 Do they assume that the wealth and sons which We provide them – 55 We provide them with the means of competing with each other in virtuous deeds, but they do not realize this. 56 Verily those who live in awe for fear of their Lord; 57 Who believe in their Lord's revelations, 58 Those who join not (in worship) partners with their Lord; 59 And those who give that (their charity) which they give (and also do other good deeds) with their hearts full of fear (whether their alms and charities, etc., have been accepted or not), because they are sure to return to their Lord (for reckoning). 60 It is these who race for the good deeds, and they are foremost in them [e.g. offering the compulsory Salat (prayers) in their (early) stated, fixed times and so on]. 61 We charge not any soul save to its capacity, and with Us is a Book speaking truth, and they shall not be wronged. 62 Nay, but their hearts are covered (blind) from understanding this (the Quran), and they have other (evil) deeds, besides, which they are doing. 63 Until, when We seize in Punishment those of them who received the good things of this world, behold, they will groan in supplication! 64 “Do not implore this day; you will not be helped by Us.” 65 Indeed My Verses used to be recited to you, but you used to turn back on your heels (denying them, and with hatred to listen to them). 66 In scorn thereof. Nightly did ye rave together. 67 Have they not pondered the saying, or came there upon them that which came not upon their fathers, the ancients? 68 Or do they not recognise their Messenger, that they deny him? 69 Or do they say: There is madness in him? Nay! he has brought them the truth, and most of them are averse from the truth. 70 But if the Truth had followed their inclinations, the heavens and the earth and whoever is in them would have been ruined. Rather, We have brought them their message, but they, from their message, are turning away. 71 Do you (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) ask any fee from them? So the reward of your Lord is the best; and He is the Best Provider of Sustenance. 72 And lo! thou summonest them indeed unto a straight path. 73 And verily, those who believe not in the Hereafter are indeed deviating far astray from the Path (true religion Islamic Monotheism). 74 ۞ Though We had mercy on them and relieved them of the harm afflicting them, they still would wander blindly on in their contumacy. 75 And indeed, We tested them through suffering, but they did not abase themselves before their Sustainer; and they will never humble themselves 76 until We opened the gate of greater torment (death) and they suddenly found themselves in despair. 77
