AND, BEHOLD, Jonah was indeed one of Our message-bearers 139 when he fled like a runaway slave onto a laden ship. 140 and cast lots, and was of the rebutted, 141 So the whale swallowed him, for he was blameworthy, 142 and had he not been among those who exalt (Allah), 143 he would certainly have remained inside the fish until the Day of Resurrection. 144 ۞ But We cast him forth on the naked shore in a state of sickness, 145 and We caused a pumpkin tree to grow over him. 146 And We sent him (on a mission) to a hundred thousand (men) or more. 147 and [this time] they believed [in him] and so We allowed them to enjoy their life during the time allotted to them? 148 Therefore ask them (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), whether the daughters are for your Lord and the sons for them! 149 Did We create the angels females, to which they were witnesses? 150 Is it not a lie invented by them when they say: 151 'God has begotten?' They are truly liars. 152 Hath He chosen daughters above sons? 153 What is the matter with you that you make such strange judgements? 154 What, will you not remember? 155 Or have you a clear authority? 156 Then bring your book, if you are truthful. 157 They have set up a kinship between Him and the jinn; and the jinn know that they shall be arraigned. 158 Glory be to Allah (for freedom) from what they describe; 159 Not (so do) the Servants of Allah, sincere and devoted. 160 For, verily, neither ye nor those ye worship- 161 Can lead (any) into temptation concerning Allah, 162 Save him who will go to hell. 163 (Gabriel said to the Prophet): 'Each of us has a known place. 164 "And we are truly those who stand in rows, 165 we are they that give glory. 166 And indeed, the disbelievers used to say, 167 Had we a reminder from those of yore, 168 We would have been the chosen servants of Allah." 169 But they disbelieve in it (the Koran), but soon they shall know! 170 And certainly Our word has already gone forth in respect of Our servants, the apostles: 171 That undoubtedly, only they will be helped. 172 And most surely Our host alone shall be the victorious ones. 173 So turn thou from them for a while, 174 and see them; soon they shall see! 175 What, do they seek to hasten Our punishment? 176 When it comes down on their plains, it will be an evil dawn for those who had been warned. 177 Leave them alone for a while, 178 And watch and they shall see (the torment)! 179 Hallowed be thine Lord, the Lord of Majesty, from that which they ascribe! 180 Peace be with the Messengers (of God). 181 And all praise unto Allah the Lord of the worlds. 182
