Not without purpose did We create heaven and earth and all between! that were the thought of Unbelievers! but woe to the Unbelievers because of the Fire (of Hell)! 27 [For,] would We treat those who have attained to faith and do righteous deeds in the same manner as [We shall treat] those who spread corruption on earth? Would We treat the God-conscious in the same manner as the wicked? 28 (This is) a Scripture that We have revealed unto thee, full of blessing, that they may ponder its revelations, and that men of understanding may reflect. 29 We granted Solomon to David, a blessed servant of Ours and certainly the most repentant person. 30 Recall what time there were presented unto him, at eventide, coursers swift-footed. 31 And he said: "Alas! I did love the good (these horses) instead of remembering my Lord (in my 'Asr prayer)" till the time was over, and (the sun) had hidden in the veil (of night). 32 "Bring them back to me." then began he to pass his hand over (their) legs and their necks. 33 Indeed, We tried Solomon and placed a body (of a child) upon his throne, then he repented. 34 He said, 'My Lord, forgive me, and give me a kingdom such as may not befall anyone after me; surely Thou art the All-giver.' 35 We subjected the wind to him, so that it blew gently at his bidding, wherever he directed it, 36 And made the demons subservient to him, all builders and divers. 37 and others linked together in fetters. 38 [We said], "This is Our gift, so grant or withhold without account." 39 And most surely he had a nearness to Us and an excellent resort. 40
