The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth is shaken 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 Reclining face to face. 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 and amid the extended shade 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And carpets raised. 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 So made them as maidens. 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
