The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Recite thou in the name of thy Lord Who hath created 1 Createth man from a clot. 2 Read, for your Lord is most beneficent, 3 Who hath taught mankind by the pen 4 taught man what he did not know! 5 Nay, but man doth transgress all bounds, 6 For he thinks he is sufficient in himself. 7 truly, all will return to your Lord. 8 Have you seen the one who prohibits 9 A bondman when he offers the prayer? 10 Have you seen if he was upon guidance 11 and enjoins piety? 12 Seest thou if he denies (Truth) and turns away? 13 Knoweth he not that Allah doth see? 14 No indeed; if he does not desist, We shall drag him by the forelock; 15 his lying, sinful forelock. 16 So let him now call his gang! 17 We shall call the guards of Hell. 18 Nay, Obey not thou him. But prostrate thyself, and draw near (unto Allah). ۩ 19
