And We had certainly given Moses the Scripture and appointed with him his brother Aaron as an assistant. 35 Then We said: Go you both to the people who rejected Our communications; so We destroyed them with utter destruction. 36 And [think of] the people of Noah: when they gave the lie to [one of] the apostles, We caused them to drown, and made them a symbol for all mankind: for, grievous suffering have We readied for all who [knowingly] do wrong! 37 To each of the tribes of Ad, Thamud, the settlers around the well and many generations in between 38 And We illustrated examples to each one of them; and ruining them, annihilated them all. 39 And certainly they have (often) passed by the town on which was rained an evil rain; did they not then see it? Nay! they did not hope to be raised again. 40 And when they see you (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) they take you but as a mockery, “Is this the one whom Allah sent as a (Noble) Messenger?” 41 "He indeed would well-nigh have misled us from our gods, had it not been that we were constant to them!" - Soon will they know, when they see the Penalty, who it is that is most misled in Path! 42 Did you see the one who chose his own desires as his God? So will you accept the responsibility of guarding him? 43 Or deemest thou that most of them hear or understand? They are but as the cattle - nay, but they are farther astray? 44
