The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown). 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the mountains shall be made to pass away, 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 And when the seas are set on fire, 6 And when souls are united, 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 for what sin she was slain, 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 and Hell is stoked, 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 stars which are visible during the night 16 and by the night as it recedes, 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 Truly, this is the word brought by a noble messenger, 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 Your Companion is not mad, 22 he truly beheld [the angel - beheld] him on the clear horizon; 23 He (Muhammad) is not accused of lying about the unseen. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds: 27 To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight, 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
