Indeed We created man from sounding clay made out of black smelly mud. 26 whereas the invisible beings We had created, [long] before that, out of the fire of scorching winds. 27 Behold! thy Lord said to the angels: "I am about to create man, from sounding clay from mud moulded into shape; 28 And when I have fashioned him and breathed into him of My spirit, bow before him in homage;" 29 Then the angels bowed themselves all together, 30 except Iblis who refused to join with the others in prostration. 31 He said: 'iblis, what is the matter with you, that you do you not prostrate yourself' 32 He replied, "I am not one to prostrate myself to a man whom You have created out of a clay of moulded mud." 33 Allah said: then get thee forth therefrom; verily thou art one damned. 34 And surely on you is curse until the day of judgment. 35 (Iblis) said: "O my Lord! give me then respite till the Day the (dead) are raised." 36 He said, "You are granted respite 37 for an appointed time." 38 He said: my Lord! because Thou hast led me to err I will surely make things fairseeming unto them on the earth and will surely seduce them all: 39 Except, among them, Your chosen servants." 40 God said, "The path which leads to Me is a straight 41 over My worshipers you have no authority, except the perverse that follow you. 42 And indeed hell is the promise for all of them. 43 "It (Hell) has seven gates, for each of those gates is a (special) class (of sinners) assigned. 44
