Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Nay, I swear by the Day of Resurrection; 1 and nay, I swear by the self-reproaching soul! 2 Deemest man that We shall not assemble his bones? 3 Surely yes, why not? We can properly make all his phalanxes. 4 Aye! man desireth that he may sin before him. 5 'When will the Day of Resurrection be' he asks, 6 but when the sight is dazed 7 And the moon is buried in darkness. 8 and the sun and moon are brought together, 9 Man will say on that Day, "Where is the [place of] escape?" 10 No, there is no refuge. 11 unto thy Lord that Day is the recourse. 12 Man will be apprised, on that Day, of what he has done and what he has left undone: 13 Oh, but man is a telling witness against himself, 14 Whatever the excuses he may offer. 15 Move not thy tongue concerning the (Qur'an) to make haste therewith. 16 We shall be responsible for its collection and its recitation. 17 Thus, when We recite it, follow thou its wording [with all thy mind]: 18 Then it is for Us (Allah) to make it clear to you, 19 But no. You love this transient life, 20 And neglect the Hereafter. 21 On the Day of Judgment some faces will be bright, 22 Looking toward their Lord. 23 And how many faces on that Day will be woe-begone 24 Expecting that there will be done to them [something] backbreaking. 25 Nay, but when the life cometh up to the throat 26 and when it is asked: "Could any magician save him now?"; 27 and he knows that it is the time of parting; 28 and leg is intertwined with leg, 29 Unto thy Lord that day will be the driving. 30
