The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
When the sunlight is rolled up. 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 When souls are reunited (with the bodies) 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 For what crime she was put to death; 9 when the records of men's deeds are laid open, 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze. 12 and Paradise is brought near, 13 Then every soul shall know that which it hath presented. 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 and the first breath of morning. 18 Most surely it is the Word of an honored messenger, 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 Nor is your companion distracted. 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 nor does he grudge (conveying this knowledge about) the Unseen; 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 That is but an advice to the entire creation! 27 For whoever wills among you to take a right course. 28 And ye shall not will unless it be that Allah, the Lord of the worlds, willeth. 29
