The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ I swear by this city (Makkah); 1 And thou shalt be allowed in yonder city 2 And by the begetter and that which he begat, 3 Verily We have created man into toil and struggle. 4 Thinketh he that none hath power over him? 5 He will say: 'I have destroyed a vast wealth' 6 What, does he think none has seen him? 7 Did We not make two eyes for him? 8 a tongue, and two lips? 9 And shown him the two highways? 10 But he has not attempted the ascent. 11 And what could make thee conceive what it is, that steep uphill road? 12 It is freeing someone's neck from slavery; 13 Or the giving of food in a day of privation 14 to an orphan near of kin; 15 or some needy person in distress, 16 and to be one of those who believe and urge one another to steadfastness and compassion. 17 Such are they that have attained to righteousness; 18 whereas those who are bent on denying the truth of Our messages - they are such as have lost themselves in evil, 19 Fire will be an awning over them. 20
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
