And said the chiefs of those who disbelieved among his people and belied the meeting of the Hereafter and whom We had luxuriated in the life of the world: this is no other than a human being like unto you; he eateth of that whereof ye eat, and he drinketh of that which ye drink. 33 If ye were to obey a mortal like yourselves, then, lo! ye surely would be losers. 34 Does he give you a promise that when you are dead and turned to dust and bones, you will be raised to life again? 35 ۞ “How remote, (really) how remote is the promise you are given!” 36 There is no life beyond our life in this world: we die and we live [but once,] and we shall never be raised from the dead! 37 He is just a man who invents a lie about God; we cannot believe in him." 38 (The prophet) said: "O my Lord! help me: for that they accuse me of falsehood." 39 Allah said: after a little while they will become regretful. 40 So the true Scream seized them – We therefore made them like rotten hay; so away with the unjust people! 41 Then We raised after them other generations. 42 [for,] no community can ever forestall [the end of] its term - and neither can they delay [its coming]. 43 And We sent forth Our apostles, one after another: [and] every time their apostle came to a community, they gave him the lie: and so We caused them to follow one another [into the grave,] and let them become [mere] tales: and so - away with the folk who would not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our Signs and a clear authority 45 to the Pharaoh and his nobles. But they behaved proudly and thought themselves superior people. 46 and they said, 'What, shall we believe two mortals like ourselves, whose people are our servants?' 47 So they cried them lies, and they were among the destroyed. 48 And indeed We gave Moosa the Book, that they may attain guidance. 49 and We made Mary's son, and his mother, to be a sign, and gave them refuge upon a height, where was a hollow and a spring: 50
