And a sign unto them is the dead land. We quicken it and thereout We bring forth grain, so that thereof they eat. 33 We made in it gardens of date-palms and vines, and We caused springs to gush forth 34 That they may enjoy the fruits of this (artistry): It was not their hands that made this: will they not then give thanks? 35 Limitless in His glory is He who has created opposites in whatever the earth produces, and in men's own selves, and in that of which [as yet] they have no knowledge. 36 And a sign for them is the night. We remove from it [the light of] day, so they are [left] in darkness. 37 The sun runs to its fixed resting place; that is the decree of the Almighty, the Knower. 38 And the moon -- We have determined it by stations, till it returns like an aged palm-bough. 39 Neither does it lie in the sun's power to overtake the moon nor can the night outstrip the day. All glide along, each in its own orbit. 40 Another sign for them is that We carried their offspring in the laden Ark. 41 And We have created for them similar (vessels) on which they ride. 42 and if We will, We drown them, then none have they to cry to, neither are they delivered, 43 Except as a mercy from Us and provision for a time. 44 And [yet,] when they are told, "Beware of [God's insight into] all that lies open before you and all that is hidden from you, so that you might be graced with His mercy," [most men choose to remain deaf;] 45 And whenever a sign comes to them from the signs of their Lord, they always turn away from it! 46 When they are told to spend for the cause of God out of what He has provided for them for their sustenance, the disbelievers say to the believers, "Should we feed those whom God has decided to feed? You are in plain error." 47 And they say: When will this promise be fulfilled, if ye are truthful? 48 They await not but one shout, which shall lay hold of them while they are yet wrangling. 49 and so [sudden will be their end that] no testament will they be able to make, - nor to their own people will they return! 50
