The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
The Hour of Doom is drawing near and the moon is rent asunder. 1 But if they see a sign they turn away, and say: "This is the same old lie continuing," 2 And they denied and followed their inclinations. But for every matter is a [time of] settlement. 3 There have already come to them Recitals wherein there is (enough) to check (them), 4 far-reaching wisdom [was held out to them]: but [since] all warnings have been of no avail, 5 Therefore turn away from them; on the day when the announcer will call towards a severe unknown matter – 6 Their eyes cast down, going forth from their graves as if they were scattered locusts, 7 Rushing towards the caller; the disbelievers will say, “This is a tough day.” 8 ۞ Before these, the people of Nooh denied and they belied Our bondman and said, “He is a madman” and rebuffed him. 9 Then he invoked his Lord (saying): "I have been overcome, so help (me)!" 10 Then opened We the gates of heaven with pouring water 11 We caused the earth to burst forth with springs so that the waters could come together for a predestined purpose. 12 And We carried him on a (ship) made of planks and nails, 13 which sailed on under Our supervision: a reward for him who had been shown ingratitude. 14 And We left it as a sign. Is there anyone who will be warned? 15 How terrible was My torment and the result of (their disregard) of My warning. 16 And We have indeed made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 17 The people of `Ad rejected Our guidance. How terrible was My torment and the result (of their disregard) of My warning. 18 Indeed, We sent upon them a screaming wind on a day of continuous misfortune, 19 which hurled people around like uprooted trunks of palm-trees. 20 for, how severe is the suffering which I inflict when My warnings are disregarded! 21 But We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 22
