He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 and fearfully, 9 you ignore him. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 exalted, purified, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 Of a sperm-drop He created him, and determined him, 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 Then split the earth in clefts 26 And We made corn grow, 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 and olives and palms, 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 And fruit and grass - 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 laughing, and rejoicing, 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 They will be the unbelievers, transgressors. 42
