Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]? 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 labouring, weary, 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 In a high Garden. 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 and couches raised high, 13 And goblets set at hand 14 Cushions arranged, 15 And carpets spread out. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And how the heaven was raised up, 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And the earth, how it is made a vast expanse? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Indeed, to Us they shall return, 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
