The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord who created - 1 created man out of a germ-cell 2 Recite: And thy Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who taught by the pen - 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 Yet man behaves arrogantly, 6 that he sees himself sufficed. 7 However, (all things) will return to your Lord. 8 Have you seen the one who forbids 9 a worshipper from praying? 10 Have you seen if he was upon guidance 11 Or enjoins piety? 12 Seest thou if he denies (Truth) and turns away? 13 Did he not know that God sees? 14 Nay! if he desist not, We would certainly smite his forehead, 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 and then let him summon [to his aid] the counsels of his own [spurious] wisdom, 17 We will call the guards of Hell (to deal with him)! 18 Yes indeed; do not listen to him – and prostrate, and become close to Us. (Command of Prostration # 14) ۩ 19
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
