In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
You, who have wrapped yourself up with a mantle, 1 Stand up in Prayer by night, all but a small part of it; 2 half the night, or a little less 3 or a little more; and with recitation, recite the Koran. 4 Soon shall We send down to thee a weighty Message. 5 Lo! the vigil of the night is (a time) when impression is more keen and speech more certain. 6 You are indeed much occupied during the day with the affairs of the world. 7 So remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with exclusive devotion. 8 He is the Lord of the East and the West; there is no god except Him. Take Him for your Guardian. 9 And be patient over what they say and avoid them with gracious avoidance. 10 Leave it to Me to deal with the deniers, who live a life of comfort, and bear with them a little longer. 11 Surely with Us are heavy fetters and a flaming fire, 12 And a Food that chokes, and a Penalty Grievous. 13 One Day the earth and the mountains will be in violent commotion. And the mountains will be as a heap of sand poured out and flowing down. 14 We have sent you a Messenger, who will witness your deeds, just as We sent a Messenger to the Pharaoh. 15 But Pharaoh disobeyed the messenger; so We seized him with a heavy Punishment. 16 So how will you save yourselves, if you disbelieve, on a day that will turn children old? 17 Whereon the sky will be cleft asunder? His Promise needs must be accomplished. 18 Indeed, this is a reminder, so whoever wills may take to his Lord a way. 19
