Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 therein uplifted couches 13 Goblets set, 14 Cushions arranged, 15 And linen spread out. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 And the earth how it has been spread out? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
