And when the messengers came unto the family of Lot, 61 he said, "You seem to be strangers". 62 They said, "But we have come to you with that about which they were disputing, 63 "Yet we bring to you the truth, and we are truthful. 64 So set out with your family during a portion of the night and follow behind them and let not anyone among you look back and continue on to where you are commanded." 65 And We made known this decree to him, that the root of those (sinners) was to be cut off in the early morning. 66 And the people of the city came rejoicing. (* To the house of Prophet Lut.) 67 He said, 'These are my guests; put me not to shame, 68 And fear Allah, and humiliate me not. 69 They replied: "Did we not forbid you again and again to extend hospitality to all and sundry?" 70 Lot said, "These are my daughters if you want them." 71 Verily by your life they were utterly confused in their (lustful) drunkenness. 72 At sunrise a dreadful Shout seized them. 73 Thus did We turn it upside down, and rained down upon them stones of what had been decreed. 74 There are great Signs in this for those endowed with intelligence. 75 This (city) lies on a road that still survives. 76 Lo! therein is indeed a portent for believers. 77 And the people of Aykah were also wrong-doers. 78 We afflicted them with punishment. Both people had clear (divine) authority among them. 79
