The people of Lut belied the sent ones. 160 When their brother Lot said to them: "Will you not take heed? 161 Verily I am unto you an apostle trusted. 162 So keep your duty to Allah and obey me. 163 "And no reward whatever do I ask of you for it: my reward rests with none but the Sustainer of all the worlds. 164 What! do you come to the males from among the creatures 165 instead of your wives, whom your Lord has created specially for you? You are a transgressing people." 166 They said: if thou desistest not, O Lut! thou shalt surely be of those driven forth. 167 He said, 'Truly I am a detester of what you do. 168 (And prayed:) "O Lord, save me and my family from what they do." 169 So We saved him and his family, all, 170 Except one old woman who remained behind. 171 Then afterward We destroyed the others. 172 And We rained upon them a rain [of stones], and evil was the rain of those who were warned. 173 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 174 And lo! thy Lord, He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 175
