And verily Yunus was of the sent ones. 139 He ran away to the laden ship, 140 And then drew lots and was of those rejected; 141 And a fish swallowed him, and he was reproaching himself. 142 And had he not been of those who exalt Allah, 143 he would have lingered in its belly till the Day they are resurrected. 144 ۞ Then We cast him on a bare desert whilst he was sick. 145 and caused a gourd tree to grow over him, 146 And We sent him to a hundred thousand, rather they exceeded. 147 And they believed; so We permitted them to enjoy (their life) for a while. 148 (Muhammad), ask them, "Do daughters belong to your Lord and sons to them? 149 or is it that We have created the angels female, and they [who believe them to be divine] have witnessed [that act of creation]? 150 Is it not that they say, from their own invention, 151 God hath begotten. Verily they are the liars. 152 Has He chosen daughters above sons? 153 “What is the matter with you? What sort of a judgement you impose!” 154 Will ye not then reflect? 155 Or have ye a clear warrant? 156 Then bring your Book if you are truthful! 157 And they have invented a blood-relationship between Him and the Jinns: but the Jinns know (quite well) that they have indeed to appear (before his Judgment-Seat)! 158 God is far above what they attribute to Him, 159 Except the bondmen of Allah sincere. 160 Wherefore verily neither ye nor that which ye worship, 161 Not against Him can you cause (any) to fall into trial, 162 Except one who is (destined) to burn in Hell. 163 [All forces of nature praise God and say:] "Among us, too, there is none but has a place assigned to it [by Him]; 164 Verily we range ourselves in rows (as humble servants) 165 We glorify God." 166 And indeed they (Arab pagans) used to say; 167 “If only we had the Reminder which had been granted to the people of yore 168 we would certainly be true servants of God." 169 But when it came to them, they rejected it. They shall soon come to know (the end of such an attitude). 170 And indeed Our Word has already gone forth for Our bondmen who were sent. 171 That they verily would be made triumphant. 172 And surely, only Our army will be victorious. 173 So you ignore them for a time 174 And watch them (how they fare), and they soon shall see (how thou farest)! 175 Do they want to hasten Our punishment? 176 But when it descends in their territory, then evil is the morning of those who were warned. 177 So turn (away) from them for a while, 178 And watch (how they fare) and they soon shall see (how thou farest)! 179 Glorified be thy Lord, the Lord of Majesty, from that which they attribute (unto Him) 180 Peace be with the Messengers (of God). 181 And all praise to God, the Lord of all the worlds. 182
