Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
HA MIM. 1 A revelation from [God], the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful -- 2 A Book of which the verses are made plain, an Arabic Quran for a people who know: 3 good tidings to bear, and warning, but most of them have turned away, and do not give ear. 4 They say, 'Our hearts are veiled from what thou callest us to, and in our ears is a heaviness, and between us and thee there is a veil; so act; we are acting!' 5 Say thou, [O Prophet:] "I am but a mortal like you. It has been revealed to me that your God is the One God: go, then, straight towards Him and seek His forgiveness!" And woe unto those who ascribe divinity to aught beside Him, 6 who do not pay the zakat, and who deny the Hereafter. 7 As to those who have faith and do good works, surely theirs shall be a never-ending reward. 8
