The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 And ye are classes three. 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 In gardens of delight; 12 A multitude of those of old 13 And a few from the latter. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 and banana trees, 29 and amid the extended shade 30 And water poured out 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And raised couches; 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 And have made them virgins. 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
