The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 shall call for destruction 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
