The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Sky and the Night-Visitant (therein);- 1 And what can make you know what is the night comer? 2 It is the piercing star - 3 No human soul but hath a guardian over it. 4 Let man reflect on what he was created from. 5 he was created of gushing water 6 That issueth from between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Surely He is able to bring him back 8 The Day when all the secrets (deeds, prayers, fasting, etc.) will be examined (as to their truth). 9 he will have no power, nor anyone to help him. 10 By the sky (having rain clouds) which gives rain, again and again. 11 And by the earth which splitteth, 12 Most surely it is a decisive word, 13 And it is no joke. 14 As for them, they are but plotting a scheme, 15 and I too am devising a guile. 16 Therefore give them some respite – give them some time. 17
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
