Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha-Meem. (Alphabets of the Arabic language – Allah, and to whomever He reveals, know their precise meanings.) 1 By this luminous Book. 2 That We made it a distinctly lucid Qur'an that you may understand. 3 It is in the Origin of the Book with Us, sublime and wise. 4 Shall We turn away the Remembrance from you, for that you are a prodigal people? 5 And how many a prophet We sent among the ancients. 6 But there would not come to them a prophet except that they used to ridicule him. 7 so We destroyed those who were mightier in courage than they. And the example of the ancients has passed away. 8 (Muhammad), if you ask them, "Who has created the heavens and the earth?" They will certainly say, "The Majestic and All-knowing God has created them". 9 The One Who made the earth a bed for you, and made roads for you in it, so that you may be guided. 10 And Who sends down water (rain) from the sky in due measure. Then We revive a dead land therewith, and even so you will be brought forth (from the dead), 11 And He it is who has created all opposites. And He [it is who] has provided for you all those ships and animals whereon you ride, 12 so that you may sit firmly on their backs. Then once you have mounted them, remember your Lord's favour and say, "Glory be to Him who has subjected these creatures to us; we would never on our own have subdued them. 13 And verily unto our Lord we are to return. 14 And they allot to Him a portion of His bondmen! Lo! man is verily a mere ingrate. 15
