In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
O thou enwrapped! 1 Stand up in Prayer by night, all but a small part of it; 2 For half the night, or reduce some from it. 3 Or a little more; and recite the Quran (aloud) in a slow, (pleasant tone and) style. 4 For we shall charge thee with a word of weight. 5 surely the first part of the night is heavier in tread, more upright in speech, 6 You have by day prolonged occupations [with Dawah work]. 7 Remember the Name of your Lord and dedicate yourself devoutly to Him. 8 Lord of the East and the West; there is no Allah save Him; so choose thou Him alone for thy defender - 9 And bear patiently the vain things they utter, and gracefully forsake them. 10 And leave Me and the rejecters, the possessors of ease and plenty, and respite them a little. 11 We have in store for them heavy fetters and a blazing Fire, 12 choking food and a painful punishment. 13 On that day, the earth and the mountains will be violently shaken, and the mountains will be turned into heaps of moving sand. 14 Lo! We have sent unto you a messenger as witness against you, even as We sent unto Pharaoh a messenger. 15 Then Fir'awn disobeyed the apostle, wherefore We laid hold of him with a painful hold. 16 So how will you save yourselves, if you disbelieve, on a day that will turn children old? 17 The heaven shall rend asunder thereby; His promise is ever brought to fulfillment. 18 This, verily, is a reminder: let him who wills, then set out on a way to his Sustainer! 19
