The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 and made the night a covering, 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 except boiling water and pus 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
