Said the eminent among the people of Pharaoh, "Indeed, this is a learned magician 109 "He wants to get you out of your land, so what do you advise?" 110 They said, “Stop him and his brother, and send announcers to the cities to gather people.” 111 to bring together at the Pharaohs court all the skillful magicians. 112 And the magicians came to Pharaoh and said: 'Shall we have a reward if we win?' 113 'Yes' he answered, 'and you will be among those near' 114 They said: O Musa! either thou cast down, or we shall be the ones to cast down. 115 He answered: "You throw [first]." And when they threw down [their staffs,] they cast a spell upon the people's eyes, and struck them with awe, and produced mighty sorcery. 116 Then We directed Moses: 'Now you throw your rod.' And lo! it swallowed up all their false devices. 117 ۞ So, the truth prevailed and what they were doing was annulled; 118 they were defeated and turned belittled, 119 And the sorcerers prostrated themselves 120 Saying: "We believe in the Lord of the Worlds,- 121 The Lord of Moses and Aaron. 122 Fir'awn said: believed ye in him ere I have given you leave? Verily this is a plot ye have plotted in the city that ye may drive forth the people thereof. So presently ye shall know. 123 I will cut off your hands and feet on alternate sides and then crucify you all!" 124 They said, 'Surely unto our Lord we are turning. 125 Thou takest vengeance on us only forasmuch as we believed the tokens of our Lord when they came unto us. Our Lord! Vouchsafe unto us steadfastness and make us die as men who have surrendered (unto Thee). 126
