And a sign for them is the dead land, that We quickened and brought forth from it grain, whereof they eat; 33 and We made therein gardens of palms and vines, and therein We caused fountains to gush forth, 34 so that they may eat of the fruit thereof, though it was not their hands that made it. Will they not, then, be grateful? 35 Hallowed be He who hath created all the pairs of that which the earth groweth, and of themselves and of that which they know not! 36 And there is a sign in the night for them. We strip off the day from it and they are left in darkness, 37 And the sun runneth on unto a resting-place for him. That is the measuring of the Mighty, the Wise. 38 And the moon -- We have determined it by stations, till it returns like an aged palm-bough. 39 It is not for the sun to overtake the moon, nor does the night outstrip the day. They all float, each in an orbit. 40 And a sign to them is that We bear their offspring in the laden ship. 41 And have created for them of the like thereof whereon they ride. 42 We could have drowned them if We pleased, and none would have answered their cry for help, nor would they have been saved, 43 But (by) mercy from Us and for enjoyment till a time. 44 And when it is said to them, “Beware of what is before you and what is behind you, in the hope of your gaining mercy”, they turn away! 45 And no sign comes to them from the signs of their Lord except that they are from it turning away. 46 And when it is said to them: Spend out of what Allah has given you, those who disbelieve say to those who believe: Shall we feed him whom, if Allah please, He could feed? You are in naught but clear error. 47 They also say, 'When shall this promise come to pass, if you speak truly?' 48 They will not (have to) wait for aught but a single Blast: it will seize them while they are yet disputing among themselves! 49 Then they cannot make bequest, nor can they return to their own folk. 50
