The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The Hour (of Judgment) is nigh, and the moon is cleft asunder. 1 And when they see a sign, they turn away and say, “Just a customary magic!” 2 They also gave the lie to (the splitting asunder of the moon) and only followed their desires. Yet everything is destined to reach an end. 3 there has come to them many a tiding wherein there are warnings, 4 which are full of wisdom; but the warnings do not help. 5 So turn thou away from them. Upon the day when the Caller shall call unto a horrible thing, 6 abasing their eyes, they shall come forth from the tombs as if they were scattered grasshoppers, 7 Rushing towards the caller; the disbelievers will say, “This is a tough day.” 8 ۞ The people of Nuh (Noah) denied (their Messenger) before them, they rejected Our slave, and said: "A madman!" and he was insolently rebuked and threatened. 9 Then he called on his Lord: "I am one overcome: do Thou then help (me)!" 10 So We opened the gates of heaven with water pouring forth. 11 And caused the earth to burst with springs, and the waters met for a matter already predestined. 12 And We carried him on a [construction of] planks and nails, 13 Sailing under Our observation as reward for he who had been denied. 14 And We left it as a sign – so is there one who would ponder? 15 But how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning? 16 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 17 Ad treated (the truth) as a lie, so how (great) was My punishment and My warning! 18 Surely We sent on them a tornado in a day of bitter ill-luck 19 Which snatched away men as though they were palm trees pulled out by the roots. 20 How was then My punishment and My commination! 21 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 22
