In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
O thou enwrapped! 1 Rise to pray in the night except a little, 2 It may be half the night or a little less than that 3 Or a little more; and recite the Quran (aloud) in a slow, (pleasant tone and) style. 4 For We are about to send down to you a message of considerable gravity. 5 Lo! the vigil of the night is (a time) when impression is more keen and speech more certain. 6 You have by day prolonged occupations [with Dawah work]. 7 And remember thou the name of thy Lord, and devote thyself to Him with an exclusive devotion. 8 He is the only Lord, so choose Him as your guardian. 9 Bear with patience what they say, and gracefully come away from them. 10 And leave Me (alone to deal with) those in possession of the good things of life, who (yet) deny the Truth; and bear with them for a little while. 11 Indeed, with Us [for them] are shackles and burning fire 12 food which chokes (them), and a painful torment. 13 (They will come across all this) on the Day when the earth and the mountains shall tremble violently and the mountains shall crumble into heaps of scattered sand. 14 Indeed, We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness over you, just as We sent a Messenger to Pharaoh. 15 Then Fir'awn disobeyed the apostle, wherefore We laid hold of him with a painful hold. 16 How, then, will you guard yourselves, if you disbelieve, on the day which shall make children grey-headed? 17 The Day when the heavens will be rent asunder and God's promise shall be fulfilled. 18 This, verily, is a reminder: let him who wills, then set out on a way to his Sustainer! 19
