And said the leaders of his people, who disbelieved and denied the confronting of the Hereafter – and We had given them comfort in the worldly life – that, “He is nothing but a human like you, he eats from what you eat and drinks from what you drink.” 33 If you were to obey a human being like yourselves, you will certainly be losers. 34 "Does he promise that when ye die and become dust and bones, ye shall be brought forth (again)? 35 ۞ Far, far is that which you are threatened with. 36 "There is nothing but our life in this world! We shall die and we live! But we shall never be raised up again! 37 "He is only a man who invents a lie against Allah, but we are not the ones to believe in him!" 38 He said: My Lord! Help me because they deny me. 39 Answered (the Lord): "They shall wake up repenting soon." 40 And then the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them, justly and unavoidably, and We caused them to become as the flotsam of dead leaves and the scum borne on the surface of a torrent: and so - away with those evildoing folk! 41 Then We produced after them other generations. 42 No nation can anticipate their term, nor can they delay it. 43 then We sent Our messengers in succession. Every time their messenger came to a people, they rejected him. So We destroyed them one after the other, and let them become mere tales. So away with the people who will not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our signs and a clear authority 45 Unto Fir'awn and his chiefs, but they grew stiff-necked, and they were a people self-exalting. 46 They said, "Should we believe in two mere mortals who are like ourselves and whose people are our slaves?" 47 They called them liars and consequently were destroyed. 48 And certainly We gave Musa the Book that they may follow a right direction. 49 We made the son of Mary and his mother a miracle and settled them on a high land, quite secure and watered by a spring. 50
