And recite to them the story of Ibrahim. 69 when he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said: We worship idols, and are ever devoted unto them. 71 He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate? 72 or benefit you or do you harm?" 73 They said: Nay, we found our fathers doing so. 74 He said: have ye observed that which ye worship 75 you and your forefathers of yore? 76 “They are all my enemies, except the Lord Of The Creation.” 77 Who created me and Who guides me; 78 “And the One Who feeds me and gives me to drink.” 79 and Who, when I am ill, heals me; 80 He will cause me to die and will bring me back to life. 81 and He who will, I hope, forgive me my faults on the Day of the Judgement. 82 "O my Sustainer! Endow me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and make me one with the righteous, 83 give me a good name among later generations; 84 and make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 and forgive my father for he is among those who strayed, 86 "And let me not be in disgrace on the Day when (men) will be raised up;- 87 The Day when neither wealth nor sons shall benefit 88 Except him who brings to Allah a clean heart [clean from Shirk (polytheism) and Nifaq (hypocrisy)]. 89 For, [on that Day,] paradise will be brought within sight of the God-conscious, 90 and Hell advanced for the perverse. 91 It shall be said to them, 'Where is that you were serving 92 beside Allah? Can they be of any help to you, or even be of any help to themselves?" 93 So they shall be thrown down into it, they and the erring ones, 94 And all the armies of Iblis. (Satan) 95 "They will say there in their mutual bickerings: 96 "By God, we were most obviously astray 97 When we made you equal to the Lord of the worlds; 98 And no one misguided us except the criminals. 99 “So now we do not have any intercessors.” (The believers shall have intercessors, the disbelievers none). 100 nor a loving friend. 101 Oh, that we had another turn (on earth), that we might be of the believers! 102 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 104
