Al-Qamar 2 of 3
The tribe of Thamud denied the Noble Messengers. 23 So they said, “What! Shall we follow a man from among us? If we do, we are indeed astray, and insane!” 24 "Is it that the Message is sent to him, of all people amongst us? Nay, he is a liar, an insolent one!" 25 Tomorrow they will come to know, who is the liar, the insolent one! 26 They shall send the She-camel as a trial for them; so watch thou them and keep patience. 27 And inform them that the water is shared between them; every share of the water shall be regulated. 28 But they called their companion who took hold of her and hamstrung her. 29 Then, how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 30 For We sent against them a single Mighty Blast, and they became like the dry stubble used by one who pens cattle. 31 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 32 The people of Lot rejected Our warning. 33 Verily We! We sent upon them a gravel-storm save the household of Lut; them We delivered at early dawn. 34 As a favour from Us. That is how We reward the grateful. 35 He had warned them of Our assault, but they disputed the warnings. 36 And certainly they endeavored to turn him from his guests, but We blinded their eyes; so taste My chastisement and My warning. 37 Indeed an abiding chastisement came upon them in the morning. 38 "So taste ye My Wrath and My Warning." 39 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 40

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
