The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth is shaken 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 On thrones decorated, 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 and spreading shade 30 and waters gushing, 31 and fruits abounding 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 and raised couches 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 We have made them virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 For those on the right hand; 38
