Nay; I swear by the moon, 32 By the night when it departs. 33 by the brightening dawn, 34 Surely it (hell) is one of the gravest (misfortunes), 35 It is a warning for mankind 36 To him among you who wishes to go forward or remain behind. 37 Every soul shall be pledged for what it has earned, 38 Except those of the right hand 39 In gardens, they shall ask each other 40 and will ask of the criminals, 41 "What has brought you into hell-fire?" 42 They will say: "We were not of those who used to offer their Salat (prayers) 43 and we did not feed the poor; 44 “And used to dwell on evil matters with those who think evilly.” 45 And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, 46 Till the Inevitable came unto us. 47 The intercession of the intercessors will be of no benefit to them. 48 Why then do they turn away from the admonition 49 As though they were asses startled. 50 Fleeing from a hunter, or a lion, or a beast of prey. 51 Indeed, everyone of them desires to have sheets of revelations unfolded before them -- 52 This will certainly never be the case! In fact, they are not afraid of the Day of Judgment. 53 Nay, verily. Lo! this is an Admonishment. 54 So whoever pleases may mind it. 55 they will only take heed if God so wills: He is the Lord who is worthy to be feared: the Lord of forgiveness. 56
